Step-by-Step: How to Root Your Nexus Device

Rooting, just like jail-breaking an iPhone means unlocking the operating system so you can install unapproved (by Google) apps, replace the firmware, overclock the processor and customize just about anything.

Thankfully, there’s a windows utility that makes rooting ones device as easy as a one-click affair using Nexus Root Toolkit. It’s free and works like a charm!

This program will automatically collect all the files needed to unlock and root your device within a few clicks or flash it back to stock an re-lock it. You will also notice there are some useful utilities such as backup/restore, push and pull files, install apps and much more.

NOTE: We are not responsible for any possible damage inquired by your device. Proceed at your own caution.

Note that rooting your device may void your warranty.

If you have a device with encrypted storage, rooting will wipe all data.
